Tulsi Basil Seed

Regular price $4.00 Sale

Tulsi Basil Seed (Ocimum tenuiflorum), packet of approximately 100 seeds.

Tulsi (also called Holy Basil) is mostly used in tea, although it can be used in culinary preparations as well. The leaves when dry have a mild, sweet flavor that is slightly peppery. Tulsi is traditionally used for stress relief and relaxation, although it has also been used to reduce blood sugar, inflammation, and fever, or to boost immunity. The plant grows to 2 or more feet in height if given plenty of water and humidity. Pinching off flowering tops helps encourage side branching, and cutting back the plant frequently will encourage more leaf production. Pollinators, especially bees, love the pretty purple flowering tops.

Planting instructions: Sow seeds 1/4" deep, 8-12 inches apart, after average last frost. Keep soil moist until germination. Or start inside up to 5 weeks earlier and transplant out after last frost. Pinch off flowering tops for leaf production or leave flowers to the bees!
